New Presidential Candidate?

March 11, 2007

Today on Fox News Sunday, former Senator and actor Fred Thompson announced he is considering a run for president. Given the current field of Republican candidates, I believe Thompson would be an instant hit among conservatives. Many of Thompson’s positions are right in line with the base of the conservative movement. will we soon add Mr. Thompson to the Presidential poll? How do you feel about a possible Thompson candidate?

Liberal Hate Speech

March 6, 2007

There is a lot of “holier than Thou” talk from the left right now and it really bugs me.  Even one of the commenters in the “Ditch Coulter” post was spouting crap like that.  Like I wrote in that original post comments like Coulter’s are not exclusive to the conservatives…liberals have way more than their fair share of hateful comments, MUCH MUCH worse than what Coulter said.  The difference between liberals and conservatives is the conservatives have overwhelmingly denounced Coulter’s remarks…there has been silence from the left when their own people have made worse comments.  Here is a great post from Patterico that details several examples of the hate speech the left is ever so good at.

Ditch Coulter!

March 4, 2007

I think Ann Coulter has finally done it.  She has pushed the envelope to a point where conservatives NEED to ditch her.  Conservatives have been given the rap of being racist, biggoted, homophobes, which is so unfair.  I bet admitted homophobe Tim Hardaway didn’t vote for a conservative…just a guess.

Racism, and homophobia knows no political party…it is on both sides of the aisle <cough> Sen. Sheets Byrd <cough>, but since liberals and their cohorts in the media have been successful in changing the conventional wisdom regarding conservatives it is our job to change it back.  Ann Coulter has become a liability to the conservatives.

I used to like Coulter.  I have one of her books.  She would say things that no one else would dare say, she stood up to her critics, and she destroyed them.  Is that what we want from a politician…no, but she is the one that does the dirty work the politicians can’t or won’t do.  She has went over the line and the Right can’t legitimicize her any longer.  It is guilt by association.  I heard Hannity say in his interview with Michelle Malkin, that he hasn’t heard the comments and can only say that each person needs to be responsible for what they say, not what someone else says.  That is true, but if you sit back and do nothing to correct or condemn the action it indicates you support the comments, or you are just too much of a wuss to take a stand.  Either way it isn’t an appealing characteristic.

Ann Coulter is going the way of Pat Buchannan, and she should be shunned like he was too.

Obama out of touch

March 4, 2007

I may be splitting hairs here, but the way Barak Obama delivered this statement speaks to the type of president he would be if elected.

For telethons and other charity events people often say, “If everyone could give just $1, or $5 it would help…”, but Obama is acting like a parent talking to his children.  Like he knows he will spend your money, better than you will spend your money.  Like he knows where money is best spent, but you don’t.  Typical liberal!!

If I had any intention of voting for that guy, I would have walked right out when he said that.  Obviously, he doesn’t understand that yes indeed, you can be poor enough where you can’t afford to give up five dollars.  I’ve been in that situation.  And quite honestly, if I was that poor, but still willing to give up my last five dollars, I’d put it in the collection plate at church rather than give it to a political campaign.

His arrogance, and controlling nature really shined through here…and it only took seven seconds for him to do it.

Two new Fox News shows

February 24, 2007

Here is a short post from Lost Remote about the new Fox News sketch comedy, The 1/2 Hour News Show, and a new show called It’s Out There.

For many of us it isn’t earth shattering news that the internet and blogging are in the process of changing the political landscape in this country, but I would guess MOST people are in the dark on this topic.  It’s Out There is an example of how blogging is changing politics and the news media in general, because it is essentiall a half-hour show discussing stories found on blogs.  For me, the best part about the show is that it will be cohosted by one of my favorite Fox News contributors…Michelle Malkin!

This Variety link mentions just a bit more about the show and its first episode.

Conservapedia

February 24, 2007

I haven’t heard about this website until today, but I do find it interesting and thought it would be worth a mention on this blog, since we are committed to searching for and commenting on the truth in politics.

I like Wikipedia and I use it now and then to find a little information on various topics.  I particularly like the external links that appear at the bottom of most of the entries, because I learned the hard way that a lot of the information posted in each entry is false and/or biased.  For example I posted an entry on my other blog quite a while ago about Rotoshop, and I was slammed for having inaccurate information on it, which I received and linked from Wikipedia.  Oops.

I think conservapedia will be an interesting resource, and I think that by trying to push the biased and opinionated material to a different section of the site, it preserves the integrity of the content without slipping into censorship.  Based on the theory the webmasters lay out regarding the site, the site sounds great, but in practice it could be completely different.  Also, a lot of the entries lack information currently, but that is because the site is relatively new and with increased exposure more info will be posted.

I really like the concept of the site.  Obviously this is only going to really appeal to those of us right of center, because liberals really like to shape history in their own media institutions, no matter how wrong they are.  It will be interesting to see if this site lives up to its claims and if it will be successful.  I guess we’ll have to use it and find out, but anything that gets the liberals riled up into full shriek mode can’t be half bad:)

Are scientists ever right?

February 22, 2007

Maybe “scientists” are stupid, or maybe the scientists often quoted about the perils of global warming are nothing more than puppets for the communists that fund them, either way history shows that the current global warming farce isn’t the first climate changing Armageddon them came up with.

I’m sure many of us have heard about the whole global cooling fear mongering “scientists” forced on us 30 years ago, but take a look at this article from a 1975 Newsweek piece that discusses it. It hits home a little harder when you actually read an article from a popular magazine, rather than just hearing someone say “remember when global cooling was all the rage”.
